MNAC searches for Executive Director

The Metro Nashville Arts Commission's Search Committee has hired Slavin Management to conduct the search for the new executive director. Bob Slavin met with the Search Committee and representatives from local arts organizations in October to gain an understanding of their hopes and expectations for the new director. Mr. Slavin has been and will continue to network among arts professionals to recruit strong candidates. By early December the search firm will meet with the Search Committee to review the pool of candidates and determine which ones to pursue further. We will keep you posted!

Slide session fills quickly

MNAC's slide session scheduled for Oct. 10-11 was well-received by area artists, with all available timeslots filling within one week of the session's announcement. Participating artists will receive notice this week of finished slides and CDs. The MNAC plans to offer the second slide session of FY 2004 this spring and will likely give scheduling priority to those artists who are not yet on the Artist Registry and have not participated in any previous slide sessions. Look for the announcement after the holidays.

Updates for grantees

First payments on grant awards were made by Metro Accounts on Oct. 23. All grantees should have received checks by now.

The Grants and Awards Committee has made great progress on its annual review of the grants guidelines. Thanks to the many organizations who met with us earlier to provide ideas for improvement. Grantees were recently invited to a presentation in early December to respond to proposed revisions. We hope you will join us.

2004 Arts Directory published

The 2004 Arts Directory is at the printer and will be mailed to area organizations before Thanksgiving, with extra copies available for pick-up. Bookmark the Directory online at www.artsnashville.org/directory/ for the most up-to-date listings of area not-for-profit arts organizations in the performing, visual, literary, and media arts, local arts service organizations, and arts education contacts, plus commercial galleries and other organizations that exhibit art or present arts programming. Organizations can add or correct entries here as well.

This edition is the second Directory featuring cover art by MNAC's Artist Registry artists. We are excited by the opportunity to showcase all our artists this time and think viewers will agree that this is the best cover yet!
